(this DOES include rentals - Guests pay non-resident use)

One way: $30 per person Round Trip: $60 per person

PLEASE NOTE: Driver gratuity is appreciated and is not included. Also no smoking, food, or drinks are allowed on the shuttle.

In consideration of all passengers using this service for ARRIVALS, drivers are only permitted to wait an additional 10 minutes at each side. It is for this reason that we can not be held responsible for flight delays or missed shuttles.

Please arrive at the Spanish Springs Station or Lake Sumter Landing station 15 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time from The Villages.

NO OVERNIGHT/LONG-TERM PARKING will be permitted in the Spanish Springs or Lake Sumter Landing parking lots.

Taxi Service

For residents who are departing from, or arriving at, Spanish Springs or Lake Sumter Landing station, we offer the convenience of The Villages Taxi Service.

Our scenic executive courses are ranked for three levels of play.

Level One courses are beginner friendly and recommended for those just taking up the game.

Level Two courses are designed to be a bit longer and may include obstacles like bunkers and water.

Level Three courses are designed to challenge the best players and feature undulating greens, bunkers, and several water hazards.

* Green fees on the executive courses are free for residents. There is no charge to a resident or seasonal golfer for walking. A trail fee (per person) is required for use of a golf car on the courses and may be paid daily, semi-annually or annually.

The Villages is an unincorporated community and a census-designated place, the largest such location by population in Sumter County, Florida. As of the 2000 census, the CDP population was 8,333, however the actual population of The Villages is considerably larger as the CDP only includes the section of The Villages within Sumter County while the more heavily populated sections in Lake County are included within the figures for the town of Lady Lake. It is the central location of The Villages, Florida, Micropolitan Statistical Area, which consists of Sumter County. The original portions of the complex (Orange Blossom Gardens) and the town square (Spanish Springs) are in Lake County, however the newly constructed community of Sumter Landing was built in 2005 as a second more commercially oriented town square and is wholly within Sumter County. A small portion of The Villages is also located within Marion County. The current population of The Villages as a whole (as of 2006) is roughly 50,000 and is expected to surpass 100,000 by 2010.

The Villages has its own newspaper, The Villages Daily Sun. It is also served by the Orlando Sentinel.

On February 2, 2007, a tornado struck The Villages during the early morning hours. More than 1,000 homes in the Villages were destroyed or damaged.^[1]

Geography

The Villages is located at 28°56′16″N, 81°58′16″W (28.937803, -81.971220)^GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 14.5 km² (5.6 mi²). 13.4 km² (5.2 mi²) of it is land and 1.0 km² (0.4 mi²) of it (6.99%) is water.

Demographics

As of the census^GR2 of 2000, there were 8,333 people, 4,392 households, and 3,583 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 619.9/km² (1,605.5/mi²). There were 5,065 housing units at an average density of 376.8/km² (975.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 98.42% White, 0.52% African American, 0.10% Native American, 0.53% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.06% from other races, and 0.37% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.30% of the population.

There were 4,392 households out of which 0.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 80.1% were married couples living together, 1.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 18.4% were non-families. 15.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 1.89 and the average family size was 2.05.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 0.3% under the age of 18, 0.3% from 18 to 24, 1.5% from 25 to 44, 40.4% from 45 to 64, and 57.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 66 years. For every 100 females there were 91.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.9 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $42,542, and the median income for a family was $45,078. Males had a median income of $58,173 versus $26,176 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $28,343. About 2.8% of families and 3.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including none of those under age 18 and 2.8% of those age 65 or over

The Villages is located in central Florida, about fifty miles north of Orlando between Leesburg and Ocala. Primarily a retirement community, The Villages offers a high quality lifestyle, tranquil country scenery, lots of recreation and shopping opportunities and fine restaurants. An unincorporated community, the original portions of The Villages complex (Orange Blossom Gardens) and the town square (Spanish Springs) are actually in Lake County, however the newly constructed community of Sumter Landing (in The Villages) is wholly within Sumter County. A small portion of The Villages is also situated within Marion County. The more heavily populated portion of the retirement community is within Lake County and is included in the figures for the town of Lady Lake. Therefore, some people refer to The Villages as “Lady Lake.” There are seven golf courses within a five-mile radius of The Villages, but there are 19 golf courses in the surrounding area. The Villages also has 14 swimming pools, great fishing, tennis, bowling, softball, horseshoes and many more activities. The Town Square offers free nightly entertainment. The town of Lady Lake hosts an annual Heritage Festival, usually held in October, at the Lady Lakes Sports Complex. This festival features arts and crafts, entertainment, delicious food and a carnival for children. The Villages has one of the lowest crime rates of any city in the state of Florida and enjoys a very comfortable lifestyle. It offers immaculate residential areas and all the qualities for a great vacation – or to settle permanently. It is conveniently located on U.S. Highway 27/441, with easy access to I-75.

The Villages Weather & Climate

The lush, green horse country of north central Florida, near Ocala and Lady Lake, lies between Gainesville and Orlando. It is warm and humid in the summertime with plenty of sunshine along with frequent thunderstorms that generally pass very quickly. Winters are warm, dry days with cool nights - perfect for a round of golf, horseback riding and other outdoor sports. Northern Florida receives an average of 50 inches of rainfall per year, with most of it during the months of May through September. There is much less rain overall in the wintertime, although continental low-pressure systems can bring longer periods of cloudiness to the area. North winds in the winter keep this area slightly cooler than southern Florida, but summers are slightly warmer without the cooling effect from the ocean, as do cities that are located right along the coast.
